Therapy for First Responders in Wisconsin
Police, Firefighters, and EMS
Therapy with a therapist with first responder experience.
You’re burned out. You can’t wait to get home and you haven’t even gotten in uniform for your shift yet. The job that you once were so excited to suit up for, has you questioning what you’re doing with your life. You help people with their mental health every day, while you’re struggling with your own (even if you wouldn’t like to admit it). You’re feeling disconnected from your family or your partner. Life outside of the job has gotten away from you. Your rotation isn’t helping. You feel sad, angry, and scared.
I’ve been there. I felt the hypervigilance that never turned off. I felt the burnout. I felt the disconnection from my partner and family. I felt the isolating aftermath when returning home after being on numerous chaotic and emotional scenes throughout the day.
I hear you.
The mask you put on every day can come off. You can heal from the experiences you’ve had on call. Police, Fire, and EMS, you can get back to a place of feeling connected with the ones you love. You can process the thoughts and emotions that are keeping you up at night. You can experience joy again and feel confident in your career.
In therapy, you don’t have to hide. You get to be real. You get to be honest. You get to shed light on the traumatic events and chaotic scenes you see every day. Police officers, cops, law enforcement, I promise you’re safe here. A judgement free space with a therapist who understands what it’s like to be under the microscope.
You don’t have to do it alone.
The call came out and your body automatically responded. All of the possibilities are running through your mind as you head lights and sirens to the chaotic scene. The images keep playing in your mind. Your body responds just as intensely as the day it happened. You feel like the traumatic scene will consume you for the long haul. You have to shove it down to get through the next day because there are still calls to respond to and people to help.
You’ve become distant in your relationships. Nobody understands what you’ve seen. Your work family gets it but they too are struggling with the trauma. You feel like you’ve taken your emotions and stuffed them so deep to be able to get by. You’ve lost joy for the things that used to bring you happiness. You feel alone. You feel misunderstood. Your thoughts are consuming and you’re not sleeping well.
